Programmer - Nesting
Our company is looking for a Programmer with experience in the metal fabrication industry.
Job Duties/Requirements:
- Knowledge of CNC machine operation.
- Knowledge of CNC files (specifically .NC, .DXF, .KSS)
- Experience using SIGMANEST or equivalent nesting software is preferred.
- Experience with Peddinghaus and Voortman machines is preferred.
- Read and interpret work orders, structural steel drawings, specifications, sketches, and written instructions to perform daily tasks.
- Possess a willingness to occasionally operate machines as well as cross train on a variety of equipment
- Monitor operations to ensure that health and safety standards are met.
- De-burr and grind metal as necessary to achieve proper surface texture per job specifications.
- Recognize, setup, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding and metal fabrication trade as required.
- Mark / tag material with proper job number, piece marks, and other identifying marks as required.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Shop Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- General knowledge of steel fabrication
- Ability to speak, read and write in English
- Valid drivers license with reliable transportation
- Physically capable of lifting/pushing/pulling 70 pounds unassisted
- Physically capable of bending/twisting as well as standing and or sitting for long periods of time
- Able to work well with minimal supervision as well as with other colleagues
- Ability to prioritize tasks and follow specified procedures
- Self-motivated, detail oriented and has a positive attitude
- Willingness to work overtime as needed
- Must be willing to submit to a pre-employment physical, drug screening and background check

We fabricate approximately 12,000 tons of steel annually and have invested heavily in state-of-the-art fabrication equipment in recent years.
Under the direct supervision of the Production Supervisor, the employee will be responsible for programming and nesting incoming files for one or more CNC structural steel fabrication machines. These machines include a Coper, Angle Machine, Plasma/Punch Plate Machine and a fully automated Drill, Saw and Blaster line. These items include but are not limited to:
