Job Description

National Security Consultants develop solutions for clients with a focus in the national security sector, as well as organizational design, strategy, supply chain & network operations, and process efficiency and effectiveness. We currently operate in a hybrid environment, with work taking place at client site (Washington D.C. metro area), at the Rios Partners office in Arlington, VA (Rosslyn metro stop), or virtually from home. Final schedules will be determined on a client and project basis.

National Security Consultants must be able to:

  1. Demonstrate experience using Human Centered Design (HCD) methodology to develop empathy and design client needs.
  2. Exhibit expertise in working with national security clients on strategic initiatives tailored to their unique requirements.
  3. Work with a range of clients, including those in the defense and intelligence communities, as well as non-profits and other federal agencies.
  4. Demonstrate a strong understanding of the key requirements and challenges specific to the national security community.
  5. Build relationships with Rios Partners employees and clients. This job requires extensive team interaction with both co-workers and clients. Being polite, inclusive, and respectful is crucial.
  6. Frame problems in a manner that identifies the root cause. We are looking for individuals who can dig beyond initial symptoms and pinpoint core challenges before developing solutions.
  7. Analyze data quickly and efficiently. Rios Partners is a data-driven organization; we support our hypotheses with accurate analysis. The ability to quickly identify required data, gather it, and analyze it in an efficient manner is critical to success.
  8. Lead and mentor team members. Helping our core group of employees is crucial to the company’s growth.
  9. Brief materials to stakeholders and senior clients. This role in the company is often entrusted to interact one-on-one with leadership and management from client firms.
  10. Communicate in a professional and persuasive manner. We expect all members of the team to be able to understand their work and present clearly and coherently it to outside parties.
  11. Deliver results. In short, we get stuff done and we’re looking for team members that do not give up when they encounter challenges and know how to effectively transition from analysis to implementation. Rios is looking for tenacity.

Required education, skills, and experience

  • TS/SCI clearance
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative data analysis skills
  • Proficiency with Excel and Power Point
  • Bachelor’s degree AND minimum 6 years of relevant experience
  • Master’s/PhD AND minimum 5 years of relevant experience

Preferred Education, Skills, and Experience

  • Worked within DoD or the Intelligence Community
  • Service to community, nation, and world
  • Experiences supporting Human Centered Design, Supply Chain, Innovation, Org Design, Policy, or Healthcare
  • Power BI, Tableau, Python capabilities
  • Experience managing teams of 2-4 direct reports
  • Experience managing senior client relationships

  • Security Requirements: Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance (i.e. must be US Citizen or Permanent Resident who has resided in US for past three years consecutively)
  • Must be willing to live in DC Metro area for duration of employment with Rios Partners

Benefits Information:

  • Profit-sharing/Performance Bonus: Rios Partners is committed to ensuring the success of the organization benefits the entire team. As such, a portion of profits is paid out to employees. The total amount of Profit-Sharing/Performance Bonus distributed to the team may vary year to year and will depend on numerous factors, including market conditions, company performance, and individual performance.
  • Retirement plan: Rios Partners offers a 401(k) and contributes an amount equivalent to 3% of the employee’s base salary each month to the designated fund. Employees may choose to contribute additional money into the 401(k) from their paycheck each month.
  • Health insurance:Rios Partners covers 90% of the premium for both the employee and their dependents for a Platinum plan health coverage through United Healthcare
  • Dental insurance:Rios Partners covers 90% of the premium for both the employee and their dependents for a dental insurance plan through Guardian Dental.
  • Vision insurance:Rios Partners covers 90% of the premium for both the employee and their dependents for a vision insurance plan through VSP.
  • Disability insurance:Rios Partners will pay 100% of the premium for both short-term and long-term disability insurance provided through Guardian.
  • Paid Time Off (PTO) and holidays:You will be eligible for three weeks of PTO (15 days) and 12 paid holidays each year. In additional accrued PTO, Rios Partners provides additional time off for both expected and unexpected events (e.g., Bereavement Leave, Jury Duty, Voting).
  • Maternity, Paternity, and Adoption Leave: Rios Partners celebrates employees’ choice to become parents. We are also aware that pregnancy and caring for an infant or a newly adopted child may cause additional life complexities. As such, we provide employees twelve (12) weeks of paid leave in association with the birth of an employee’s own child or the placement of a child with the employee in connection with adoption or foster care. To be eligible for Maternity/Paternity/Adoption Leave Program, team members must: 1) Have worked at Rios Partners full-time for a minimum of 12 continuous months. 2) Be in good employment standing with Rios Partners (i.e., not on probation). 3) Request leave a minimum of 30 days in advance if possible. If this is not possible, please place your request as soon as possible once you become aware of it. Regardless of eligibility for the Rios Partners Maternity/Paternity/Adoption Leave Program, all Rios Partners employees are eligible for the Department of Labor’s Family and Medical Leave Act entitlements as well as Rios Partners Short Term Disability plan.
