Job DescriptionJob Description

We're looking for a Senior Scala Developer with extensive experience in developing and maintaining software using the Scala programming language. This is for a client of ours in New York. Our ideal candidate will have a strong background in Java/Core Java AND ideally currently lives in New York OR within a few miles of New York.

This is a 1 year, renewable contract. Hybrid: 2-3 days onsite, in New York office

Note: We are not seeking candidates with a background in Hadoop or Big Data for this role.

Please do not apply if your resume does not clearly highlight at least 5 years of SCALA development projects/experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance software applications using Scala.
  • Utilize Java/Core Java expertise to support and integrate applications as needed.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and implement new features.
  • Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software issues in a timely manner.
  • Participate in code reviews, ensuring adherence to best practices and coding standards.
  • Document software processes and contribute to technical documentation.

Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of Scala experience.
  • Strong proficiency in backend development with Java/Core Java.
  • Relevant certifications are highly desirable.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Must live in New York or within proximity of New York.
  • Your SCALA project/development experience MUST BE CLEARLY VISIBLE in your resume in order to be considered.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Skills:

  • Prior experience working in an Agile or Scrum environment.
  • Understanding of financial market operations or financial applications.
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple teams and stakeholders.
