We are seeking a skilled and experienced Database Architect with a strong background in hospital and healthcare (EMR/EHR based data) data to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of database systems that support the organization’s healthcare applications and data management needs. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring that our data architecture is effective, efficient, and aligns with industry standards and best practices. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including data analysts, healthcare professionals, and IT specialists, to define data requirements and translate them into scalable and secure database solutions. Responsibilities

  • Design and implement robust database architectures, data warehouses, data lakes and similar that support healthcare applications.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and define data requirements.
  • Develop and enforce database governance and data management best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and HITECH.
  • Optimize database performance, reliability, and scalability based on user needs.
  • Manage the database lifecycle, including deployment, maintenance, and upgrades.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation related to database designs and processes.

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • Experience designing Databases and related Data Reporting Systems/Data Dashboards that help users to drive insights, make data-driven decisions, and manage risk.

Should be well versed in the following areas:

  • Data Models, Data definitions, and data flows, and similar “data architecture artifacts”, Data Activities, Users Data focused Behaviors
  • Enterprise data model (EDM): connecting other modeling components to show a holistic and consistent data view/ showing the business requirements map to physical models, showing/planning/laying out where data needs to be shared across database and across healthcare/hospital applications (EMR/HER systems).
  • Automated data flows: how data moves within the organization in order to predict data delivery, data usage and data changes.
  • EHR or EMR type data (patient data, treatment/diagnosis data, medical insurance claims/coding data, HL7 or FHIR data integration/conversion standards, hospital-clinical type data including patient records and other hospital-patient centric operational data)
  • Data Migrations to the cloud, ideally with Azure or GCP; Experience with Snowflake is a strong plus.
  • SME Level Experience with SQL Server or AzureSQL is preferred.
  • Creating data pipelines in order to scale data and optimize data movement; data connectors that can transform connected data elements, with inter-dependencies between data in order to improve data integration and data sharing.
  • Experience with Containerization tolls (Kubernetes, Docker or similar) in order to make data rules/algorithms re-usable and repeatable and for speed/optimization
  • An Emphasis on Data Quality and related-accurate data architecture models and schemas for best of breed data architecture.
  • Data Governance: data ownership/key users/application-access to data in order to create a clear blueprint of where the data lives, how to use automation, and how to set accessibility by group.
  • Data Entity Relationships and MetaData
  • Distributed Data Architecture Patterns, DataWarehouses/DataWarehousing (data mesh), DataMarts and Data Lakes/Data-Lake-houses, Data Fabric (in order to unify/make available/cross-connect disparate data) and Cloud Data
  • Data Use Cases, DataOps, Data Flows, Data Silo’s
  • ML as it relates to Data sources and Data Quality, algorithms surrounding outputs/inputs.
  • Engaging in DataOps: Engaging in DataOps monitors and improves enterprise data flow, creates predictable business and data services, and makes existing data architecture components adaptable.
  • Strong knowledge in areas including ETL, SQL Coding, Data Reporting Dashboards (PowerBI/Tableau), Data sets, HIPAA Data Compliance, Data Interoperability frameworks, data privacy/data Security
  • A solid background in Computer Science Fundamentals: A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field is strongly preferred (MS Degree is preferred).
