Job DescriptionJob Description

We are searching for a Senior Controls/Algorithm Engineer to design and develop software for a distributed control system application. You will work closely with software architects and control system engineers to develop software that meets controls requirements and design specifications. You will also lead projects of small to medium size where you analyze complex issues, determine the best test methodologies, and contribute to all aspects of system development and deployment. You should be comfortable operating independently and with minimal direct supervision in a fast paced and highly technical environment. You should be comfortable working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams on multiple concurrent, cross-functional projects. You must be a high energy self-starter, with strong desire to bring success to assigned projects and other opportunities necessary to realize company growth.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Understand the software response to system and controls requirements, develop software based on software requirements and design.
  • Create Test Specification Documents and deliver solutions of highest quality.
  • Articulate (verbal and written) the design decisions and implementations made to teammates.
  • Understand principles of systems engineering including requirements generation, flowdown, and validation.
  • Assist in the development of design documentation for prototypes and production products.

Requirements* and Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering or related field with 5+ years relevant experience. MS in same disciplines a significant plus.
  • Proficiency in development, analysis, and implementation of control systems or other complex robotic/autonomous systems
  • Experience in Matlab/Simulink
  • Strong data analytics ability
  • Experience with the engineering workflow including requirements capture, analysis, flowdown, development, manufacturing and testing/verification
  • Ability to handle aggressive deadlines with agility and results driven approach.
  • Ability to translate, statistically analyze data, and effectively report problems through written and/or graphical formats.
  • Ability to determine technical solutions including test documentation.
  • Ability to interact effectively with other team members as well as individuals in other disciplines and organizations. 
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Effective communication on various technical levels, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in working both autonomously and within a team environment.
  • Experience with Agile Development is a plus.
  • Systems engineering experience and mindset is a strong plus.
