Radiology Associates is seeking a PRN Mammo Technologist to work in our Twin Lakes Imaging location.

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Responsible for variety of technical activities associated with the performance of screening and diagnostic mammography procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform a variety of tasks involving the operation of mammographic radiographic equipment and other equipment/devices as appropriate. Follow safety standards and use radiation protection when operating radiologic equipment.
  • Position patients for exams. Calculate exposure factors, assist physicians.
  • Perform the quality control functions related to mammography.
  • Evaluate radiographs for diagnostic quality obtaining additional images as needed.
  • Prepare medical supplies using aseptic techniques if appropriate. Explain procedures to patients.
  • Provide orientation to new Mammography Technologists.
  • Assist in maintenance and compilation of statistical data.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in performing all breast imaging procedures, to include breast interventional procedures.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work therein.

EDUCATION: Associate’s degree (A.A.) in Radiologic Technology program or equivalent from two-year College or technical school

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two years’ experience in radiologic imaging modalities; one year of Mammography experience preferred. Experience with tomosynthesis preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSURE: Licensed in the State of Florida and ARRT certification in Radiography (RT(R)). Current ARRT certification in Mammography (M) preferred, or must be obtained within first 6 months of employment in position. BLS Certification.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • Proficiency with Mammography procedures and protocols.
  • Anatomy and physiology.
  • Experience with the use, QA, and troubleshooting of various types of radiologic equipment.
  • Radiation safety and protection requirements for staff, patients and visitors.
  • Experience with interventional procedures for the breast.
  • Ability to use computer and network systems for processing and submitting images for interpretation by radiologist.
  • Emergency response: knowledge of AED function, crash cart location and oxygen tank usage. Ability to respond to untoward medical event with calm demeanor and proficiency.
  • Ability to work in a cooperative nature with all departmental staff, patients, and families.
  • Effectively communicate both written and verbally.
  • Explain procedures clearly and simply to patients.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: Requires full range of body motion. Must be able to lift/carry/move items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires positioning of patients. Requires 20/20 correctable vision.

ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS: Medical office, mammography exam and treatment rooms. Exposure to radiation, needles, and communicable diseases. Work location may vary between sites.
