The Risk Manager will support the organization’s comprehensive insurance and risk management program, assessing and identifying risks that could impede the reputation, safety, security, or financial success of the organization. This position is based out of our corporate office in Canonsburg, PA, but the candidate will be expected to travel to Belle Vernon and McClellandtown as needed.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Track all incidents and injuries in partnership with the Safety team members of each division, and perform analysis to identify risk categories and potential areas for improvement.
  • Manage insurance coverage on all vehicles and equipment, including scheduling and tracking coverage across fleet.
  • Serve as liaison between safety/operations teams and claims adjusters for all workers’ compensation claims, working closely with legal counsel.
  • Negotiate out-of-insurance settlements for all vehicle incidents and manage process for obtaining liability releases and issuing payment.
  • Initiate and manage all insurance claims across policies, and provide regular reporting to management on current risk exposure.
  • Support risk management leadership in policy renewal efforts, including analysis of alternative risk structures and exposure levels.
  • Review and assess risk management policies and protocols; make recommendations and implement modifications and improvements per direction of management.
  • Recommend and implement risk management solutions such as insurance, safety and security policies, business continuity plans, or recovery measures.
  • Performs other duties as directed.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Thorough understanding of policies and best practices of risk management.
  • Experience in trucking and/or waste management preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Superior mathematical, analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Highly organized and detailed-orientated.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software to prepare reports and policies.
  • Adaptable and skilled multitasker.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in risk management, Finance, or related field required.
  • At least three years of related experience.
