What a Body Technician will do:
  • Clean the cab using a wax/grease remover
  • Inspect cab for defects and document in the build book
  • Sand area to be body filled, clean with wax and grease remover, and tape off areas needing protection from excess filler
  • Apply body filler to required areas with a plastic spreader
  • Remove excess filler and shape body filler to a quality finish
  • Maintain tools and work area
  • Expected to use power tools such as a D/A sander, grinder, and air-file

What you need to be a Body Technician:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Auto body experience preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
  • Knowledge of basic inspection tools, machining skills, or related fields
  • Strong mechanical and technical aptitude
  • Ability to use basic hand tools and tape measure
