Glass Glazier

The Glazier is responsible for installing, repairing, and replacing glass in a variety of settings, including windows, doors, storefronts, and skylights. The role involves reading blueprints or specifications, measuring and cutting glass to fit, and ensuring installations meet industry standards. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, excellent hand-eye coordination, and a commitment to safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Measure and Cut Glass: Accurately measure openings or glass specifications using tools like tape measures, calipers, and glass cutters.
- Install Glass: Fit glass into windows, doors, display cases, storefronts, and other structures, using glazing tools, adhesives, and putty.
- Repair and Replace: Remove broken or damaged glass and install new panes, ensuring a perfect fit.
- Blueprint Reading: Interpret blueprints and specifications to determine the type, size, and thickness of glass required for installations.
- Ensure Safety Standards: Follow safety procedures to minimize hazards during installation and removal, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Use of Tools and Equipment: Operate and maintain hand and power tools, including glass-cutting tools, drills, and lifts, to complete installations efficiently.
- Client Interaction: Communicate with customers regarding project details, timelines, and care of installed products.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 1-3 years of experience as a Glazier or in a related field preferred, but training may be provided.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Technical training in glass installation or a related trade is a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work orders.
- Attention to detail and precision.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy glass and materials, work at heights, and perform physical labor for extended periods.
- Licenses/Certifications: Glazier certification (if applicable) and a valid driver’s license.
Working Conditions:
- May work indoors or outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather.
- Use of safety gear such as gloves, safety glasses, hard hats, and harnesses is required.
- Travel to job sites as needed.
