Serpa Packaging Solutions is looking for a Director of Engineering to join our growing organization As the Director of Engineering with Serpa you will provide hands-on leadership and management to support the growth of the Division. The position is responsible for engineering, project management, purchasing functions and will report to the VP and General Manager.

Requirements:
- Provide decisive and effective technical leadership to the organization.
- Primary owner of strategic and tactical planning for engineering roadmap within the organization; and the associated department structure to support these objectives.
- Provide hands-on mechanical engineering review and support to the team to ensure that mechanical rework is minimized.
- Manages the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Project Management, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Research and Development and Purchasing departments. Also directly supervises several non-supervisory employees.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Clearly and consistently communicate product line vision to the engineering organization. Guide engineering organization’s efforts to achieve this vision.
- Develop engineering processes, best practices and test programs that ensure all products meet the appropriate safety, reliability, and performance standards.
- Ensure that key project deliverables and schedules are met on time and on budget. Conduct design reviews to ensure product design is aligned with overall program objectives. Conduct major project reviews with management.
- Plan and balance production projects and new product development activities with the use of existing internal, and external engineering resources if applicable, to maintain project schedules.
- Leverage experience and strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with sales, operations and service.
- Communicate engineering’s needs to manufacturing (i.e. testing, assemblies, etc.)
Desired Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in engineering or applicable discipline required.
· 5-8 years’ manufacturing/operations experience, with proven success in a related leadership position in an automation manufacturing environment; knowledge and experience in Packaging Machinery preferred.
· Proven track record of strong managerial expertise involving manufacturing-based problem solving, personnel management, and employee morale development.
· Results-oriented, self-motivated, with the demonstrated ability to lead, coach and inspire others.
· Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
· Proficient with MS Office and knowledge of MRP/ERP systems (Ultimate Software, Syteline preferred).
· Excellent interpersonal skills to successfully interact at all levels of the organization, including written and oral communications skills

Base Salary Range: $140,000 - $195,000
