POSITION PURPOSE:

The Host is responsible for greeting customers as they enter a restaurant, takes their reservation, or puts them on a waiting list, gives them menus and shows them to their seat. They may also handle phone calls and customer queries about the restaurant and menu and assist various restaurant staff when necessary.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Greeting guests as they enter, and putting them on a waiting list if necessary

2. Providing guests with menus and answering any initial questions

3. Assigning guests to tables they prefer, while keeping table rotation in mind so that servers receive the right number of customers

4. Answering phone calls, taking reservation, and answering questions

5. A knowledge of the menu

6. Helping with other positions in the restaurant as needed

7. Providing great customer service

8. Keeping the restaurant clean or all guests

9. Keeping with safety and health protocols

10. Any other duties requested by management

OPERATING RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work performed and composed of a variety of different tasks, calling for use of judgment, and compliance with policies and procedures. Must be both a team player and self-starter.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
  2. Restaurant or customer service experience preferred
  3. Ability to obtain and maintain a food handler certification card
  4. Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
  5. Working knowledge of sanitation procedures

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Must be able to lift, carry, push & pull up to 50 lbs with assistance

2. Must be willing to work swing shifts, weekends and holidays as directed by General Manager

3. Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand & arm movements frequently, and squeezing & overhead reaching occasionally

4. Must be able to stand, bend, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, walk on uneven surfaces on an occasional basis
