Job Description/SummaryThe Assistant Director of Admissions assists with the administration of the recruitment and admissions program at Sonoran University. This individual helps to implement and monitor the performance of established recruitment and admission goals and strategies. The position will also be involved directly in day-to-day recruitment activities, including prospective student advising and interaction.
Direct Responsibilities:
The Assistant Director of Admissions is directly responsible or provides support for the following- Acquiring and demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of Sonoran University's mission, history, degree programs and related professions, and admission policies and procedures
- Executing, and assessing Admissions Office policies and procedures, investigating and resolving questions or issues as they arise.
- Assisting with the implementation of coordinated processes for financial aid, advisement, and registration for new students.
- Assisting with developing and monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the Admissions Office, analyzing enrollment trends, evaluating data for recruitment effectiveness, and generating weekly activity reports (e.g., correspondence, campus visits, interviews, applications).
- Managing and monitoring admissions teams' performance and activities of contracted Admission partners. This includes call centers, third-party admission and retention partners, and vendors.
- Monitoring the use of recruitment/admissions CRM software (Salesforce) and related applications, supporting strategic and tactical development in collaboration with the Director of Enrollment Operations.
- Implementing the Sonoran University Arizona Community Outreach Program by establishing, maintaining, and nurturing contacts with local undergraduate college departments and advisor groups through regular visits and correspondence. Develops and hosts community presentations, campus visits, and advisor/campus update programs.
- Implementing, hosting, and presenting at functions and events related to admissions and recruitment activities, overseeing programs such as student and advisor presentations, student interviews, Discovery Day, and Student for a Day events.
- Collecting and managing Admissions data, trends, practices, and documents to ensure accurate reporting to local, state, and federal sources.
- Managing Admission inventory to ensure marketing and promotional materials are available to support marketing strategies and admissions events and activities.
- Supporting institutional success by staying updated on trends in higher education recruitment and marketing.
- Serving as a member of appropriate college committees and fulfills other duties as assigned.
Support Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Enrollment Operations
- Executes the annual Admissions and Marketing Plan in conjunction with the Marketing Department, including but not limited to recruitment strategies, referral programs, undergraduate college/advisor relations, business/industry relations, and outreach activities and automated marketing emails.
- Assists with planning campus and virtual admissions events including Discovery Day and New Student Orientation Program (twice annually) working collaboratively with other departments. Manages student attendance requirements for Orientation and Admissions Team and volunteers' attendance for Admissions hosted events and activities Fosters and supports a workplace climate that values employee and student diversity, promotes respect for differences, and creates an environment conducive to personal growth, self-reflection, and success in collaboration with the Student Affairs Leadership team.
- Training, developing, evaluating, and managing professional Admissions Office staff, including Admissions Representatives, Recruiters, Student Ambassadors, and other student workers/volunteers.
- Managing the annual recruitment travel schedule and personally representing Sonoran University at local, state, and regional events, as well as on-campus activities. In and out of state travel required.
- 3 years – work experience in sales/recruitment environment, preferably in Higher education, including establishing best practices, administration, policies and procedures oversight
- 2 years - work experience in a managerial role with a team of direct reports
- 1 year - experience with utilizing Salesforce in an educational environment.
- Experienced with delivering in-person and virtual presentations to support recruitment and admissions activities and events.
- Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of admissions and recruitment programs, including the ability to ensure compliance with applicable governmental guidelines and regulations.
- A proven ability to implement strategic plans, resolve complex problems, and make sound decisions that align with institutional goals.
- Exhibits a strong proficiency in interpreting and evaluating data, maintaining accurate records, and applying financial, statistical, and reporting practices to support decision-making and compliance.
- Demonstrate exceptional planning, analytical, and coordination skills, with the ability to set and manage priorities effectively while maintaining outstanding attention to detail.
- Display advanced proficiency using Salesforce, Microsoft Office applications, and reporting software.
- Model ethical and inclusive decision-making, responsible management practices, and a team-focused approach in all actions and communications.
- Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships while effectively mentoring and developing direct reports to achieve individual and team success.
- Demands the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities, resolve conflicts effectively, and maintain clear communication to perform essential functions.
Minimum Education
/Certifications Bachelor's degree in field related to area of assignment
Desired Education/Certifications
Master's degree in field related to area of assignment.

Working Environment Requirements:- Requires annual travel, including overnight trips, to fulfill recruitment and outreach responsibilities.
- Must be able to carry marketing materials and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. while traveling.
- Occasional weekends and evenings are required to support admissions events.
- The position is on campus with an option to work remotely up to two days a week once initial onboarding is complete and as duties permit.
- Involves extensive periods of sitting, keyboarding, and using a computer mouse.
- Occasionally requires standing for extended periods and walking moderate distances to complete tasks.
