We go above and beyond all day and every day. We do it because we love our clients and we have a World-Class Mandate at our company.

We know that we have a fantastic work environment, we pay well, bonuses are given based on performance, we work extremely hard, but we have a lot of fun while doing it. We asked our team what they love about their jobs here at P&B and they said they love the freedom that they havefreedom to share and exchange ideas, the freedom that our flexible work schedule provides, freedom from the stress of the job environments that they have experienced in the past, freedom to do more, be more and earn more At Patterson-Bryant, we listen to the needs and wants of our team. Why? We listen because we know that our team is the lifeblood of our company. We know that great things are often done by one person, but phenomenal things are done when we work as a team

What do we want from you?

What we want is simplewe want someone that has a strong work ethic, an unstoppable determination to succeed and the desire to make a positive impact as a team We want an A+ type of person because we know that a small team of A+ people can do more in eight hours than a building full of B or C people can do in a week

We service large, mid-size and small companies, so the challenges change daily. We welcome challenges around here and we want to add a Benefit Service Specialist to our team that loves challenges too

More details about this position

This position is busy and challenginghey, we are honest If you want to do one thing all day and nothing else, then this is definitely not the job for you. You will wear many hats in this position.

It is full of numbers. You will be creating and/or looking at spreadsheets, proposals, benefit summaries and invoices. If it has a number on it and it applies to our clients benefits, you will be looking at it all day long. If you hate numbers and Excel has not become one of your best friends since you learned it, then this is not the position for you. Bottom line is that you cannot do the job if you are not very well-versed in Excelwe are talking formulas, tables, vlookups and pivot tables.

It requires experience in Employee Benefits Administrationno way around this one, we are an Employee Benefits Brokerage oldest in the Mid-West, 40+ years and counting You need to know employee benefits. You need to enjoy servicing clients and learning about employee benefits. You will provide benefit administration support to our clients and their employees.

You need to know how to contact carriers to obtain quotes for new employee benefit plans. We search multiple plans to get the best benefits for our clients. You will be required to obtain the most competitive insurance proposals for clients based on their needs.

You need to know how to draft and submit a request for proposal (RFP) for all health and welfare plans. You also will be responsible for reviewing RFP responses for reasonableness, accuracy and meeting the clients requirements.

You must have a keen attention to detail. It is a huge deal if you type a 9 instead of a 4 when you enter an employees benefit cost into a spreadsheet. You need to be the type of person that can catch their own errors. A real dot every i and cross every t type of person. We expect you to create a final work product that is clear, concise and accurate.

Additional Benefit Service Specialist I responsibilities:
  • You will negotiate with carriers on behalf of clients to ensure the best pricing available for renewals or new business offerings.
  • You will contact clients to complete pre-renewal questionnaires.
  • You will process customer policy change requests
  • You will prepare and create all benefit renewal presentations (Excel spreadsheet) and open enrollment materials for our clients and their employees. You must have exceptional Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat Pro skills.
  • You will research/review various benchmarking sources to create benchmarking reports.
  • You will respond to all inquiries and cancellation requests in 24 hours or less
  • You will perform invoice and census audits
  • You will process new business paperwork.
  • You will handle incoming claims calls from clients.
