What You'll Be Doing:As a Family Support Specialist, you'll be at the forefront of empowering families through a variety of social work and educational methods. You'll develop deep, trusting relationships with families, offering both long-term support and immediate crisis intervention. Your role will involve providing strength-based, family-centered services that focus on building resilience and fostering positive parenting.
From delivering in-home parent education and participating in group support sessions to offering community referrals and tracking progress, you'll be a key player in helping families thrive
This position is a combination of On-Site, Remote and Hybrid.
Key Responsibilities Include:In-Home Family Support: Deliver individualized parent education and support.
Advocacy: Champion healthy infant-parent relationships and promote infant mental health.
Client Enrollment & Assessments: Conduct assessments and connect families with community resources.
Documentation: Timely, accurate documentation in compliance with KVC standards.
Location: This position is based out of Lawrence, KS but will serve Brown, Doniphan, Jackson, Marshall, Nemaha, Pottawatomie and Wabunsee counties.
Education: High School Diploma (GED) required. Bachelor's degree in a human services or family development field (or relevant experience) is a plus.
Experience: At least 2 years of experience working with children and families in a social services role.
Skills: Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and with diverse communities.
Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
Technology: Proficiency in MS Word and email applications.
Preferred: Experience in trauma-informed care and working with families in crisis is a bonus
