Position Summary

As a Meat Packaging Clerk, it will be your responsibility to inspect, weigh, clean, wrap, and package all meat products. You'll also be required to adhere to and uphold strict health and safety guidelines, load and unload shipments, and ensure that all orders meet client specifications. As the Meat Packaging Clerk, you will also be responsible for receptionist duties, handling the cash register and performing cash transactions for customers.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to act courteous to other team members and customers
  • Ability to communicate with other team members and customers
  • Ability to use hand tools, stand or walk for extended periods, lift heavy items, and work in cold environments.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team setting.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Education and/or Experience

  • High school graduate or equivalency.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Food Handlers permit preferred.
  • In depth knowledge of state health and hygiene regulations for food handling and preparation.

Language Skills

  • English is the primary language of the company.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instruction furnished in written, oral, and/or diagram form.
  • Ability to define and solve problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in statistical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Job Functions

  1. Inspect stock for bones, sinews, and fatty tissue
  2. Weigh and cut meat to meet the customer's specifications
  3. Wrap and package meat products while according to company guidelines
  4. Load and unload distribution and/or delivery trucks.
  5. Ensure all products are stored properly.
  6. Ensure that all orders are complete and accurately documented.
  7. Adhere to and implement the company's health and safety guidelines.
  8. Adhere to food safety and sanitation controls
  9. Greet and speak to customers, provide advice, answer questions, and accept orders or payments.
  10. Coordinate deliveries or order pickups.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Seek out external resources through trainings, workshops, etc. as necessary.
  • Comply with OSHA regulatory requirements.
  • Adhere to the company's philosophy, mission, and policies and procedures.
  • Support the Company's goals and objectives.
