POSITION OVERVIEW

The Transportation Planner coordinates and optimizes the movement of goods within the supply chain to efficiently meet customer demands. This role requires expertise in Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and proficiency in Oracle NetSuite to plan, execute, and track distribution operations. The ideal candidate will work closely with internal teams, suppliers, and logistics providers to ensure timely deliveries and cost-effective transportation solutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Distribution Planning & Coordination

  • Develop and implement distribution plans using Oracle NetSuite and TMS tools to ensure timely product delivery.
  • Optimize transportation routes, modes, and carriers to minimize costs and improve service levels.
  • Collaborate with warehouse, procurement, and sales teams to align distribution activities with business objectives.

Transportation Management

  • Utilize TMS to schedule and monitor shipments, ensuring compliance with service-level agreements.
  • Analyze freight costs and recommend cost-saving opportunities without compromising service quality.
  • Track carrier performance and resolve any transportation issues proactively.

Scheduling Carriers

  • Plan and schedule carriers to ensure timely pick-ups and deliveries.
  • Maintain strong relationships with carriers to negotiate favorable rates and service levels.
  • Monitor carrier schedules and resolve any conflicts or delays.
  • Use Oracle NetSuite and TMS to track scheduled shipments and make necessary adjustments.

Compliance and Documentation

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to transportation and distribution.
  • Prepare and verify shipping documentation, customs paperwork, and compliance reports.
  • Utilize NetSuite to maintain accurate records of shipments and compliance documentation.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work closely with logistics providers, suppliers, and internal teams to enhance distribution processes.

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve distribution operations using Oracle NetSuite and TMS insights.
  • Develop and implementbest practices to enhance efficiency and reduce transportation costs.
  • Conduct regular performance analysis to drive continuous improvements.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Office-based role with occasional travel to distribution centers or supplier locations.
  • APICS certification, TMS certification, or related credentials.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in distribution planning, transportation management, or logistics.
  • Proficiency in Oracle NetSuite with experience in supply chain and logistics modules.
  • Strong understanding ofTransportation Management Systems (TMS) and logistics operations.
  • Knowledge of supply chain best practices and distribution strategies.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
