Our client near the Laurel, MD area is looking to hire a Payroll Manager to their team You'll work with a supportive team in a well-established organization that values its employees and fosters professional growth.

This position offers remote flexibility, but individual must be local as this position will be onsite 1 day/week.

About the Role:

As the Payroll Manager, you'll oversee the end-to-end payroll function for a workforce of 800+ employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. Reporting directly to the Controller with dotted line to CFO, you'll handle payroll processing, tax filings, benefits administration, and more-all while playing a pivotal role in supporting the company's financial operations and employee satisfaction.

Payroll Manager Key Responsibilities

  • Process semi-monthly and bi-weekly, multi-state payroll for 800+ employees using ADP Workforce Now.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local wage and hour laws, and support related audits.
  • Address payroll-related inquiries and provide guidance on regulations to employees and management.
  • Implement and maintain payroll policies and procedures to streamline operations.
  • Prepare analytical reports and reconcile payroll tax accounts for accurate reporting.
  • Manage time and labor systems, assisting new hires with time-off tracking and requests.
  • Handle final pay, severance payouts, and agency notices, and oversee unemployment and local account registrations.
  • Contribute to audits, tax filings, and other payroll-related financial activities.

Payroll Manager Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of multi-state payroll experience.
  • Proficiency in ADP Workforce Now is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Federal, State, and local payroll laws.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
  • Certified Payroll Professional certification is a plus.
