**Job Title:** Nurse Manager

**Job Specialty:** Emergency Department

**Job Duration:** 26 weeks

**Shift:** Day; Variable, Primarily Monday - Friday. Must be available for night shift and weekends as needed.

**Guaranteed Hours:** 40 hours per week

**Experience:** Minimum 3 years required, 5+ years preferred; Previous management experience preferred

**License:** Current RN license or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner required in the state of residence

**Certifications:** BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, NRP, PALS, CPI (required within 45 days of start)

**Must-Have:**
- Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
- Master's preferred; must have or complete Master's in Science in Nursing (MSN) if undergraduate degree is not BSN
- Enrollment in MSN program required within 1 year of hire/transfer date; graduation required within 5 years of hire
- Professional Nursing Certification required
- Skills in culture building, team building, and communications

**Job Description:**
- Assess, plan, coordinate, and evaluate the clinical and operational functions of a nursing unit
- Promote a safe environment and maintain clinical and professional competency
- Support a Professional Practice model that enables nurses to collaborate for high-quality patient outcomes
- Demonstrate transformational leadership behaviors and serve as a change agent for team members
- Advocate for the protection and rights of patients, families, teammates, and other disciplines
- Ensure unit operations comply with regulatory standards, policies, and procedures
- Function collaboratively to achieve goals and uphold quality management and patient care standards
- Conduct interviews, selection, and supervision of nursing personnel
- Facilitate regular staff meetings for information exchange and dialogue promotion
- Understanding and compliance with state and federal laws related to managed healthcare services
- Allocate resources to foster professional relationships between nurses and physicians
- Perform nursing care and assist with treatments, therapies, and medication administration as necessary
- Integrate evidence and research findings into practice
- Provide and assess the effectiveness of patient and family education
- Participate in performance improvement activities for cost-effective, quality patient care
- Promote shared governance and develop research for positive clinical outcomes
- Utilize data analysis for improved clinical outcomes
- Develop policies, procedures, and standards based on evidence-based practice
- Coordinate patient and family-centered care planning and implementation
- Support community service initiatives and address issues related to ethics, culture, and diversity
- Oversee staffing and scheduling for safe, effective, quality patient care provision
- Encourage open communication and provide opportunities for team guidance
- Responsible for recruiting and retaining qualified team members; ensure proper orientation and professional development
- Promote shared accountability for professional practice and allocate resources as needed
- Responsible for budgetary oversight
- Manage 55+ direct reports including RNs, Healthcare Techs, LPNs, EMTs, and Psych Techs
