**Job Title:** Radiologic Technologist
**Job Specialty:** Diagnostic Radiology General Procedures
**Job Duration:** 13 weeks
**Shift:** 1st shift and 2nd shift coverage, Monday-Friday with weekend rotation coverage
**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week
**Experience:** One year of current clinical experience in diagnostic radiology preferred; clinical student experience may be considered in lieu of one year of current clinical experience
**License:** State license as a Radiographer required
**Certifications:**
- ARRT registered RT (R) in diagnostic radiology required
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA-approved equivalent required within 90 days of hire
**Must-Have:**
- Fluoro and C-arm experience preferred
- Self-motivation, ability to organize and prioritize well
- Flexibility and ability to reassess priorities when emergencies arise
**Job Description:**
- Prepare patients and perform radiographic procedures in diagnostic radiology under the direction of radiologists or other providers
- Operate imaging equipment following specific guidelines and prescribed protocols while utilizing appropriate radiation protection measures
- Adhere to organizational customer service standards and support organizational excellence initiatives
- Provide positive and effective interaction and communication with patients, visitors, and staff
- Perform ancillary services and assist in patient care areas as necessary
- Accurately and efficiently perform radiologic/fluoroscopic procedures with minimal patient discomfort
- Explain exams to patients and interview them to obtain personal medical history, documenting this information into the radiology information system (RIS)
- Provide clear explanations and instructions to patients, assist throughout exams, and show appreciation after conclusion
- Ensure correct image identification, including placement of ID markers and proper annotation; review studies for technical accuracy
- Work with other staff to ensure appropriate scheduling and throughput of exams; assist in transporting patients as needed
- Communicate and collaborate with radiologists and ordering providers during exams for guidance on protocols and order clarification
- Approve images, match orders to images, and archive to Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS)
- Perform PACS reconciliations accurately and completely in a timely manner
- Document fluoro time and estimate skin exposure for fluoro studies
- Demonstrate proficiency in EPIC, following workflow from order entry/verification to end exam, including notes, medication documentation, and supply charges where applicable
- Demonstrate flexibility in scheduling reassignment and shift rotations to support departmental needs, including weekend, call, and holiday rotations if applicable
- Proactively seek additional opportunities to increase efficiency and provide a more cohesive work environment
- Routinely offer assistance to others, including preparing exam rooms for the next patient, stocking supplies and linens, and maintaining a clean staff work area
- Provide a positive teaching and learning environment for staff, students/interns, providers, and visitors; act as a mentor and role model
- Assist in onboarding new employees
- Observe malfunctioning equipment and follow proper procedures to report equipment issues; provide minor troubleshooting
**Education:**
- Post high school completion of an ARRT-accredited Radiologic Technology program required
- Additional 1-2 years of college/university coursework and/or an undergraduate degree in a healthcare-related field preferred but not required
