Accounting Manager
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee and guide the Fixed Asset and Real Estate Tax accounting functions. This role involves managing a team responsible for reconciliations, journal entries, compliance, audits, and month-end close activities. The ideal candidate will bring leadership expertise, strong technical skills, and a proactive approach to process improvement and team management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day operations of the Fixed Asset and Real Estate Tax accounting team.
- Oversee and reconcile key fixed asset and real estate tax subledgers to the general ledger.
- Assist with month-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
- Review and approve journal entries and workpapers prepared by direct reports.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, including SOX requirements.
- Coordinate with Accounts Payable, Tax, and Treasury departments, as well as municipalities and auditors.
- Lead internal and external audit processes related to fixed assets and real estate taxes.
- Drive process improvements and handle ad hoc projects within the Fixed Asset and Real Estate Tax areas.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of accounting experience, with fixed asset accounting experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of accounting, financial reporting, and internal control principles.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with accounting software (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics 365) is a plus.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.
