**Job Title:** Registered Nurse - Emergency Room

**Shift:** 7 PM - 7 AM, 12-hour night shifts
**Guaranteed Hours:** 48 hours per week
**Experience:** Minimum 1-year experience preferred in a Level II Trauma Center
**License:** Valid nursing license required
**Certifications:** BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC, PALS, MOAB (or CPI strongly preferred)
**Must-Have:** Experience with trauma, ventilator management, critical care drips/titration, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and stroke care
**Job Description:**
- Work in a Level II Trauma Center that serves a large region.
- Handle various patient types including neonate to geriatric, with multiple specialties such as Medical, Cardiac, Neuro, Ortho, Trauma, and Interventional.
- Manage complex cases such as DKA, Sepsis, Multisystem trauma, Respiratory Failure, Renal Failure, COVID, ETOH, IVDA, Mental Health (adult and pediatric).
- Provide care for patients experiencing conditions like Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, Suicidal Ideation, Depression, Anxiety, Stroke requiring intervention, and cardiac events such as STEMI/NSTEMI.
- Maintain patient ratios of 1:4 in the main ED, 1:5 in ED holding, 1:1-2 in ICU, and 1:6 in Psych, based on acuity.
- Participate in the care of Sexual Assault patients including evidence collection.
- Work collaboratively with a team of secretaries, paramedics, psych techs, CNAs, charge nurses, and other support staff on the unit.
- Utilize Cerner for charting, Alaris pumps, Pyxis for medication management, and GE monitors.
- No inpatient floating required but will rotate between Triage, Psych, Trauma, and Holding areas routinely.
- Complete a comprehensive 3-day orientation program.
- Schedule may include weekend rotations and holiday shifts as needed.
**Additional Details:**
- The RN will have support from ED physicians, mid-level providers, respiratory therapists, and intensivists available 24/7.
- A resource nurse and house supervisor will be available throughout the shift.
- The role involves assisting with procedures such as splinting, US-guided IV insertions, consciousness sedation, and management of various lines and drains.
- Travelers should be comfortable not performing pelvic exams but will handle other aspects of the sexual assault cases, supported by a dedicated SA Quality Coordinator.
