Purpose of Senior CNC Maintenance Technician

The Senior CNC Maintenance Technician is responsible for overseeing and performing complex maintenance and repair tasks for machinery, equipment, and facilities. This role involves diagnosing issues, conducting preventative maintenance, managing maintenance projects, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Basic Function of Senior CNC Maintenance Technician

The Senior Maintenance Technician is tasked with performing and managing maintenance activities to ensure smooth operations of machinery and equipment.

Reporting Relationship

Reports directly to the Maintenance Manager.

Job Requirements

Education of Senior CNC Maintenance Technician

• Required: High School/GED or vocational school equivalent

• Preferred: Trade Certification in CNC Machine repairs, specifically for Mazak, Okuma, MORI, and Mitsubishi equipment

Experience of Senior CNC Maintenance Technician

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance of CNC machines, manual machines, and other equipment

• Preferred: Experience with robots, automation, and advanced machinery

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities of Senior CNC Maintenance Technician

• Ability to read and understand blueprints, electrical schematics, and other work-related documents

• Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems

• Extensive skill and knowledge in CNC machine operation, maintenance, and repair

• Proficiency in using precision measuring tools and basic hand tools

• In-depth knowledge of electrical wiring, troubleshooting, and PLC systems

• Strong attention to detail, adaptability, and task prioritization

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to self-manage and stay on task

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications

• Must successfully pass background checks.

• Must work well with others, including external contacts

Physical Demands of Senior CNC Maintenance Technician

While performing this job, the employee will occasionally walk, climb, kneel, or crouch. Regular activities include standing, sitting, talking, listening, and using hands to handle tools. The position may require occasional lifting of up to 35 pounds and frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, as well as the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment for Senior CNC Maintenance Technician

This position operates in a manufacturing environment and involves occasional exposure to wet or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, and toxic chemicals. Work is performed near moving mechanical parts, and the noise level is often loud.

Authority

The Senior Maintenance Technician can complete daily assignments but must obtain supervisor approval for changes to job operations. This position does not have authority to approve purchases or authorize overtime.

Duties and Responsibilities of Senior CNC Maintenance Technician

• Follow company procedures and policies

• Alert supervisors of any unsafe conditions

• Meet time standards for assigned projects

• Maintain control and protection of company assets

• Perform maintenance on building equipment, including painting, drywall, HVAC, plumbing, lighting, and more

• Develop and maintain preventive and corrective maintenance schedules

• Manage materials like coolant, waste, oil, and recyclables

• Recommend materials, supplies, and equipment for approval

• Use diagnostic tools to identify equipment malfunctions

• Ensure overall shop cleanliness

• Provide technical support for equipment upgrades, facility improvements, and new installations

• Collaborate with other departments to align maintenance activities with production goals

• Assess and implement continuous improvement strategies

• Respond to emergency maintenance requests promptly

• Perform general labor duties as required

• Carry out any additional duties assigned by the Maintenance Manager
