Responsibilities of the Lead Pump Mechanic include, but are not limited to:

  • Receive, disassemble, inspect, repair, paint, package/prepare for shipment API centrifugal pumps as well as other related rotating equipment e. g. centrifugal pumps, gearboxes, and blowers
  • Assist with training and developing Pump Mechanic personnel to ensure efficient use of manpower and compliance with customer requirements
  • Monitor progress of repairs and assign and guide shop personnel to complete those repairs
  • Interact with customers in a positive way showing them how DXP cares about their business
  • Assist the Supervisor in the execution of all work
  • Ability to read pump sectional and machine drawings.  Read and comprehend OEM pump manuals
  • Disassembly, inspection, ability to write up a detailed rotating equipment report to all necessary repairs and or replacement parts needed.  Ex: assembly prep, assembly, pneumatic pressure testing of assembled equipment, painting of finished repair and final inspection
  • Fabricate piping and tubing as needed
  • Safely use hand, power, pneumatic and hydraulic tools

Qualifications of the Lead Mechanic include, but are not limited to:

  • 5 years of experience as mechanic
  • Advanced knowledge of diesel and fuel engine maintenance and repair
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and perform repairs independently
  • Ability to operate equipment and tools involved in vehicle repair
  • Experience with Pneumatic and Hydrostatic testing of parts and equipment
  • Experience with Mechanical seals including
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical seal drawings, mechanical seal removal, installation, and pneumatic pressure testing when necessary preferred
  • Ability to properly use various types of precision measuring equipment
  • Experience or knowledge in NDT as in PMI, Dye Pen, and Mag Particle testing
  • Experience and ability to use safely lifting devices such as cranes, forklifts, and rigging

Physical Demand: Lift 50 lbs. unassisted / Lift 100 lbs. with assistance
