Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Medical Biller to join our growing outpatient physical therapy clinic in Staten Island, NY. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical billing procedures, particularly within the orthopedic specialty, and a proven track record of successful out-of-network claim processing.

Responsibilities:

  • Claim Processing: Accurately and efficiently process a high volume of medical insurance claims, both in-network and out-of-network.

  • Coding: Ensure accurate coding of medical procedures and diagnoses using the appropriate coding systems (CPT, ICD-10).

  • Insurance Verification: Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility prior to treatment.

  • Patient Billing: Prepare and send patient bills, follow up on outstanding balances, and handle patient inquiries regarding billing.

  • Denial Management: Research and appeal denied claims to maximize reimbursement.

  • Data Entry: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and billing information in the electronic health record system.

  • Reporting: Generate and analyze billing reports to identify trends and areas for improvement.

  • Compliance: Stay current with all federal and state regulations related to medical billing and coding.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical billing, with a strong preference for experience in the orthopedic specialty.

  • Skills: Proficient in medical coding (CPT, ICD-10), insurance verification, claim processing, and denial management. Strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in electronic health record systems.

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree in medical billing or a related field preferred.

  • Certification: Certified Coder (CPC) or Certified Medical Biller (CMB) certification is a plus.
