A dedicated Special Education Teacher is needed for a full-time position working with 6th-8th grade students in a self-contained cross-categorical classroom in Chicago Heights, IL. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with diverse learners and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Special Education Teaching License for Illinois
  • LBS-1 Certification

Responsibilities:

  • Create and implement individualized lesson plans for diverse learners
  • Manage a self-contained classroom for 6th-8th grade students
  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment
  • Adapt curriculum to meet individual student needs
  • Collaborate with educators, specialists, and parents to track progress
  • Maintain accurate student records (attendance, performance)
  • Supervise students during recess, lunch, and arrival/dismissal
  • Support students' social and emotional development
  • Participate in IEP meetings and assist in developing IEPs
