This role is perfect for a professional committed to supporting students' mental health and academic success while contributing to a positive school climate.
Key Responsibilities:
Psychological Assessment: Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess students' cognitive, emotional, and behavioral needs. Use various assessment tools to provide accurate diagnoses and develop effective intervention strategies.
Counseling and Support: Provide individual and group counseling to students facing emotional, behavioral, or psychological challenges. Develop and implement intervention plans to support students' mental health and academic success.
Crisis Intervention: Respond to and manage psychological crises, offering immediate support and creating action plans to address urgent issues impacting students.
Collaborative Teamwork: Partner with teachers, administrators, and other school staff to develop and implement strategies that address students' needs and enhance their educational experience.
IEP and 504 Plan Development: Contribute to the creation and evaluation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 Plans, providing insights and recommendations to ensure that students receive appropriate accommodations and support.
Family Engagement: Work closely with families to provide guidance, resources, and support. Facilitate effective communication between home and school to address students' needs comprehensively.
Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze data from assessments, interventions, and academic performance to track progress and make data-driven recommendations for student support and program development.
Qualifications:
Education: Masters or Doctoral degree in School Psychology from an accredited institution.
Certification: Valid School Psychologist certification or license for the state of Illinois is required.
Experience: Prior experience working as a school psychologist or in a related educational setting is highly desirable.
Skills: Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to build rapport with students, families, and staff while managing sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
Approach: A student-centered approach focused on promoting mental health, academic achievement, and overall well-being.
Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with students, families, and educational staff to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
