Our markets have significant tail winds being driven by the high priority within the DOD to add AI and/or Autonomous capabilities throughout the military theater as well as strong economic pull within the commercial segment. The market opportunity for OSS types of products is expected to grow to over $2 billion in size.

Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Quality Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality standards in our products through meticulous inspection and documentation processes.

Reporting Relationships:

The Quality Engineer reports to the Quality Assurance Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct receiving inspections and First Article Inspections (FAIR) of electro-mechanical parts, sheet metal components, machined metal components, PCBs, and PCBAs.
  • Perform visual inspections of metal finishing, checking for scratches, cosmetic defects, and color verification.
  • Ensure timely processing of inspection documentation.
  • Utilize common inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, drop gauges, gauge pins, microscopes, and precision flat tables.
  • Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to address quality issues.
  • Develop and implement quality control processes to ensure products meet required standards.
  • Conduct regular product inspections and tests to identify defects and ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Analyze quality data and generate reports to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with production teams to address quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Monitor and test the quality of products throughout the production cycle.
  • Prepare and maintain quality documentation, including inspection records and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, including AS9100, ISO9001, and ISO14001.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities and initiatives to enhance product quality and manufacturing processes.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in using inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, drop gauges, gauge pins, microscopes, and precision flat tables.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with quality management systems and standards, including AS9100, ISO9001, and ISO14001.
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in quality engineering.
  • A college degree in a related field.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Six Sigma certification preferred, with experience in DMAIC methodology.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
