Position Overview:
The Senior Tax Accountant will play a pivotal role in managing and overseeing the tax planning, preparation, and compliance processes for a diverse portfolio of clients. This individual will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver tailored tax and financial solutions for clients, including trusts, estates, individuals, and businesses. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in federal, state, and local tax regulations, with a focus on managing trust and estate tax matters, advising clients on tax-efficient strategies, and providing leadership in client advocacy and IRS representation.

Key Responsibilities:

-Tax Preparation & Compliance:
  Lead the preparation and review of federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, trusts, estates, and businesses. Ensure timely and accurate filing, and manage the firm’s tax calendar and deadlines.

-Tax Planning & Strategy:
  Develop and implement comprehensive tax strategies to minimize client tax liabilities while ensuring compliance with tax laws. Advise clients on a broad range of tax matters including income, estate, and gift taxes.

-Trust & Estate Tax Services:
  Provide specialized tax services for trusts and estates, including preparation of Form 1041, trust accounting, and advising on tax-efficient wealth transfer strategies. Work closely with legal advisors to align tax planning with estate plans.

-IRS Representation & Taxpayer Advocacy:
  Represent clients in tax audits, negotiations, and disputes with the IRS or state tax authorities. Manage tax controversies and resolve compliance issues, acting as a strong advocate for clients in administrative hearings and appeals.

-Bank Loan Consulting & Financing:
  Provide tax-related guidance and support to clients seeking bank financing, assisting with loan applications, financial documentation, and tax implications of bank loans.

-Retirement & Death Benefit Planning:
  Advise clients on the tax aspects of retirement planning, including IRAs, pensions, and other retirement vehicles. Offer tax planning strategies for death benefits, ensuring maximum tax efficiency for beneficiaries.

-Full-Service Bookkeeping & Financial Reporting:
  Supervise and provide oversight for bookkeeping services, including maintaining general ledgers, preparing financial statements, and conducting account reconciliations. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.

-FAFSA & Education Financing:
  Assist clients with education financing and FAFSA applications, providing insights on tax implications and strategies to maximize financial aid.

-Client Relationship Management:
  Serve as the primary contact for a portfolio of clients, ensuring proactive communication and delivery of superior service. Identify opportunities to provide additional services and grow client relationships.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or EA designation preferred.
- 5+ years of tax accounting experience, with a focus on trust and estate taxation, individual, and business tax preparation.
- Proven experience in IRS representation, tax controversy, and taxpayer advocacy.
- Deep knowledge of federal and state tax laws, regulations, and filing requirements.
- Strong understanding of retirement, death benefit, and estate tax planning.
- Proficiency in tax software (e.g., ProConnect, Lacerte, etc.) and accounting systems (QuickBooks, Xero, etc.).
- Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex tax concepts to clients in a clear and concise manner.
- Experience managing client relationships and delivering high levels of service in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills:
- Experience in bank loan consulting and understanding of financial products and financing strategies.
- Expertise in FAFSA and education financing, with a focus on tax strategies for financial aid planning.
