CNC Machine Operator

The Machine Operator is responsible for setting up and operating both conventional and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) grinders and machinery. This role involves operating equipment that is either computer-controlled or mechanical, installing this equipment, and performing periodic tests and repairs to ensure optimal functionality. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated team player with a strong aptitude for both computers and machinery.
Responsibilities- Inspect parts visually before running machines to ensure they are free from defects and meet quality standards.
- Set up machines according to work instructions, ensuring all settings are correct.
- Make minor adjustments to programs to improve performance or address issues.
- Set up gauge heads for high tolerance sizing and calibrate them to measure parts with high precision.
- Inspect parts against process sheets to ensure they meet specified requirements.
- Adjust machines to maintain accuracy and quality of output.
- Dress grinding wheels and change diamonds when needed to ensure proper functionality.
- Deburr completed parts to remove burrs and sharp edges, ensuring they meet quality standards.
- Work with tight tolerances requiring the use of digital micrometers and dial indicators.
- Perform daily preventative maintenance to keep machines in good working order.
- Use various measuring tools including calipers, micrometers, and gauges to ensure parts meet specifications.
- Experience operating CNC machining equipment (3 years required).
- Experience with pneumatic and manual hand tools.
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office and email.
- Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with machine operation.
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) required.
- Shift: M-F 7AM-3:30PM
- Pay: Starting $21.50
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Virginia Beach, Virginia.
