Job Title: Material Handler
North Charleston
1st Shift-7am to 330pm + Overtime
$18 an hour
 

Responsibilities:

  1. Transport raw materials, components, and finished goods between storage areas, workstations, and shipping/receiving docks.

    • Ensure production areas are adequately stocked with required materials.
    • Stage materials and supplies as outlined in production schedules or work orders.

  2. Inventory Management:

    • Track inventory levels and perform cycle counts to ensure accuracy.
    • Report discrepancies or shortages to inventory control or purchasing teams.
    • Properly label and store materials in designated locations.

  3. Shipping and Receiving Support:

    • Assist in loading and unloading shipments of materials or finished goods.
    • Inspect received materials for accuracy and quality, and report any damages or discrepancies.

  4. Equipment Operation:

    • Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment as required.
    • Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of equipment to ensure proper functioning.

  5. Documentation and Record Keeping:

    • Maintain accurate logs of materials moved, inventory adjustments, and production support activities.
    • Prepare and complete necessary documentation for inventory and production tracking systems.

  6. Safety and Compliance:

    • Follow all safety guidelines and procedures to prevent accidents or injuries.
    • Participate in regular safety training and report any unsafe conditions or practices.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to lift and move heavy materials (up to [weight limit] lbs) regularly.
  • Basic computer skills for inventory and shipping/receiving software.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and proper handling of hazardous materials (if applicable).
  • Forklift certification is a plus (or willingness to obtain).
  • Working knowledge of SAP a must
