The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing components, materials, and parts necessary for the production of our high-performance vessels. The ideal candidate will have strong negotiation skills, a deep understanding of supply chain processes, and experience in marine or industrial manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sourcing & Procurement:
- Research and identify reliable suppliers of parts and components for marine vessel production.
- Evaluate vendor bids, quality, delivery times, and prices to ensure optimal purchasing decisions.
- Negotiate pricing and contracts with suppliers to secure favorable terms and maintain cost efficiency.
- Inventory Management:
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with the warehouse production team to ensure timely supply of parts.
- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors to ensure the continuity of supply and quality control.
- Order Placement & Follow-up:
- Place purchase orders for parts, ensuring timely delivery to meet production schedules.
- Track order statuses, manage any delays or shortages, and communicate updates to relevant departments.
- Cost Control:
- Conduct regular cost analysis and budgeting to ensure purchases remain within the company''s financial guidelines.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through alternative sourcing or bulk purchasing strategies.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate purchasing records, contracts, and vendor agreements.
- Generate regular reports on purchasing activities, vendor performance, and cost-saving achievements.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with the engineering, project managers, and project managers to understand specific parts requirements.
- Collaborate with the quality assurance team to address any supplier quality issues or discrepancies.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, or a related field preferred. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Experience:
- 3+ years of purchasing or procurement experience, preferably in industrial manufacturing.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Ability to read technical drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency with procurement software and ERP systems.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
