Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Assembler to join our team. This role involves the assembly of large diesel and natural gas engines, utilizing a variety of hand and power tools, gauges and measuring devices, specialized torque equipment, electrical testing equipment, fork trucks, and lifting devices/cranes. The successful candidate will be manipulating engine components during the assembly process and learning the technical aspects of engine assembly, including troubleshooting and repair of in-process engines.

Responsibilities
  • Assemble large diesel and natural gas engines using hand and power tools, gauges, and specialized torque equipment
  • Utilize electrical testing equipment, fork trucks, and lifting devices/cranes
  • Manipulate engine components during the assembly process
  • Learn technical aspects of engine assembly, including troubleshooting and repair of in-process engines
  • Support safety, quality, and production goals of the area
  • Use computer skills for various applications
  • Read and interpret standard work in computer programs, engineering prints, and factory paperwork
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering prints and factory paperwork

  • Strong technical learning abilities
  • Commitment to safety and quality standards
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • 1-2 years experience in a heavy production environment or similar
  • 1-2 years experience using hand or power tools
  • 1-2 years experience following written work instructions, SOPs, blueprints, etc.
  • Ability to pass written and hands-on assessment in training period
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in industries such as automotive, diesel technician, lube technician, tire shop, farming, construction, maintenance, and facilities

Work Environment

Our manufacturing environment is split between an assembly side and a machine shop, with temperature control throughout. We maintain a relaxed dress code and prioritize a clean facility. Safety is our highest priority, and PPE is non-negotiable, including steel or composite toe shoes, earplugs, and protective glasses, which are provided. Shifts include: 1st Shift (6:30AM-2:30PM), 2nd Shift (2:30PM-10:30PM), 3rd Shift (10:30PM-6:30AM), 1st AWS (6am-6pm F, Sa, Sun - work 36, paid for 40), and 3rd AWS (6pm-6am F, Sat, Sun - work 36, paid for 40). The facility is very clean with minimal debris, and safety is the highest priority. Two people typically work together on the assembly team, with four zones on the main line, each having a team working side by side.
