Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our team in Biddeford, ME. In this role, you will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating clients with various physical, sensory, and cognitive challenges. Your focus will be on helping individuals improve their ability to perform daily activities and enhance their overall quality of life. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills and a commitment to providing individualized, client-centered care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessment and Evaluation: Perform comprehensive evaluations to assess clients' physical, sensory, and cognitive abilities. Identify impairments and functional limitations affecting daily life.
  • Treatment Planning: Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessment results, client goals, and evidence-based practices. Set specific, measurable objectives for each client.
  • Therapeutic Interventions: Provide direct therapy services to clients, including exercises, adaptive techniques, and activities designed to improve motor skills, sensory processing, and cognitive function.
  • Education and Support: Educate clients and their families on adaptive techniques, use of assistive devices, and strategies to support daily living and enhance functional independence. Provide guidance on managing conditions and improving skills at home.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, including physical therapists, speech therapists, and medical doctors, to ensure integrated and effective care.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client progress, treatment plans, and therapy sessions in compliance with legal and organizational standards.
  • Professional Development: Engage in continuing education and stay current with advancements in occupational therapy to provide the best possible care to clients.
  • Community Engagement: Participate in community outreach activities to promote awareness of occupational therapy services and support local health initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Licensure: Valid Maine state licensure as an Occupational Therapist (or eligibility to obtain licensure).
  • Certification: Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) preferred.
  • Experience: Prior experience in a clinical, school, or rehabilitation setting is beneficial.
  • Skills: Strong diagnostic, therapeutic, and interpersonal skills. Ability to build rapport with clients and work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Technology: Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and other relevant technology.
