Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Phlebotomist with a minimum of 2 years of recent phlebotomy experience. The ideal candidate must be proficient with straight needles and comfortable performing venipunctures independently from day one. Reliability, punctuality, and strong communication skills are essential for this role. Bilingual candidates (Spanish/English) are highly preferred, but strong non-bilingual candidates with exceptional straight needle skills and customer service experience will also be considered.

Responsibilities
  • Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data and decontamination, and update patient information.
  • Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
  • Explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection procedures clearly and courteously to patients.
  • Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
  • Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
  • Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy.
  • Package specimens for transport.
  • Store specimen samples according to required temperatures and place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, accurately labeling them and following specific protocols for transport to maintain specimen integrity.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum of 2 years' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
  • Proficiency with straight needles and venipuncture.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Reliability and punctuality.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English highly preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional customer service experience.
Work Environment

Position #1: Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm + rotating Saturday, 7am-3pm) – new site.

Position #2: (Monday to Friday, 8am-4pm + rotating Saturday, 7am-3pm) – this position is located in the basement of the building.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
