Job Description
The Material Handler performs several activities to support warehouse operations. The role is crucial in maintaining the Food Safety Management System by ensuring food safety and customer satisfaction. The Material Handler must follow all standard practices and perform job functions safely.
Responsibilities- Inspect, weigh, and record weight of empty and loaded pallets.
- Maintain clean and suitable conditions in the warehouse area.
- Drive a forklift as needed to receive, store, and load products.
- Complete all required training.
- Follow all safety, quality, and food safety policies.
- Inspect forklifts daily.
- Inspect trailers before loading.
- Maintain organizational rotation of finished products (FIFO).
- Organize finished products and consumables in the warehouse.
- Use barcode scanners or other technology for job functions.
- Handle products for reprocessing in the production area.
- Ensure regular and timely attendance.
- Provide documentation and information on handling, storage, and loading of warehouse items, including shipping documents and inventory counts.
- Perform basic duties of the Warehouse Supervisor in their absence.
- Operate a forklift (3 years total experience).
- Basic math skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- 5 years of mobile equipment experience (forklift).
- Experience in food manufacturing.
- Secondary diploma/GED or equivalent.

Work EnvironmentWork involves standing, sitting, or walking, with occasional bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching. Must be able to lift or carry at least 50 lbs. Some functions are performed in an office. The environment includes exposure to moving vehicles and marked changes in temperature and humidity. Shifts are 12 hours with a rotating schedule of 36 hours one week and 48 hours the next. Day shift hours are 7am - 7pm, and night shift hours are 7pm - 7am. Attire includes a purple hard hat (provided), clean jeans, and a t-shirt with no holes, tears, rips, or offensive logos.
