We are seeking a skilled Deburrer to join our team. In this role you will operate a variety of hand and power tools such as grinders, polishing wheels, rapid-tap, drill press, planers, and precision grinders to make metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions.

Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate hand tools such as grinders, polishing wheels, rapid-tap, drill press, planers, and precision grinders.
  • Interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications to determine sequence of operations and method of setup.
  • Use machinist's hand tools and precision measuring instruments to make standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds.
  • Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining.
  • Fit and assemble precision parts into mechanical equipment, and determine material, parts, and equipment required.
  • Perform drilling, tapping, and deburring of precision machined parts made of aluminum, titanium, Inconel, and other exotic metals.
  • Set up drills, presses, jigs, hand tools, mag lights, holding tools, workbench, and other support tooling safely.
  • Properly dispose of metallic scrap material, keep the work area clean and orderly, and return tools to their assigned locations.
  • Review daily work orders, obtain clarification as needed, and enter operator initials, signatures, and completions.
  • Self-inspect work and strive for consistent quality within same-part work orders and between similar parts and materials.
  • Seek appropriate training on new machines and tools.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including special projects on occasion.
Essential Skills
  • 2-3 years of aerospace or mechanical experience.
  • Proficiency in deburring, sanding, grinding, metal fabrication, drilling, and tapping.
  • Experience with hand and power tools.
  • Blueprint reading and basic math skills.
  • Ability to operate drill press and planers.
  • Understanding of general dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with hand-held tools such as dye grinders, edge scrapers, and pencil grinders.
  • Good manual dexterity and ability to maintain close tolerances.
  • Experience with Tier II level airframe assembly concepts and procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and good communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn and help/train others as needed.
  • Good attendance and a positive attitude.

Work Environment

You will work independently at a small workstation within a large warehouse that includes machine operating, shipping, and powder coating departments. This is a fast-paced production environment. Typical manufacturing attire is required, including steel-toed shoes, jeans, and appropriate t-shirts or long-sleeved shirts. All necessary PPE will be provided by the department.
