Job Summary:

The Team Lead is responsible for ensuring the safety of all employees and the safety and quality of all doors. All while continuously being responsibly for assisting the Lay-Up or Finish Manager in coordinating daily workflow in all areas of production. We are seeking a detail-oriented and efficient Production Team Lead to join our dynamic manufacturing team. The team lead will safely control various machines and equipment, producing quality doors. As part of our growth, we are committed to making a conscious effort to provide our team members with everything they need to thrive and enjoy coming to work every day. In this role, you will be responsible for operating machinery, maintaining production line equipment, and ensuring the highest output quality. Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Maintains a safe work environment and supports all safety initiatives.
  • Leads daily production operations.
  • Drives daily production goals and reports to Production Leadership Team and Plant Leadership Team.
  • Facilitates pre-shift meetings with all employees as assigned.
  • Drives and ensures successful training for all employees as assigned. Trains employees as needed.
  • Monitors all machines and equipment, reports all safety concerns and breakdowns.
  • Works closely with other departments to ensure daily goals are met.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly work area.
  • Realign employees and temporary employees based on production needs due to call-ins and schedule changes.
  • Plan, coordinate, and audits standard work.
  • Documents and reports employee behavioral issues to appropriate the Lay-Up or Finish Manager.
  • Makes recommendations and implement plans to bring underperforming employees up to standard while working with the Lay-Up or Finish Manager.
  • Communicates effectively with all levels of Excel Interior Door organization.
  • Maintains clear and accurate production records.
  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned.





Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Demonstrates mechanical aptitude and experience with troubleshooting of industrial equipment such as bearings, chains, gearboxes, conveyors, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Leadership and change management experience.
  • Foster and facilitate a strong teamwork environment by encouraging open communication between employees and managers and promoting teamwork among employees.
  • Continuous Improvement mindset
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, and overtime as needed.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 5 years manufacturing experience required.
  • 5S or Kaizen experience preferred.
  • 3 years of QMS experience preferred.
  • Related experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods working on feet, performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending, stooping, twisting, lifting, reaching, pushing and pulling.
  • Must be physically able to climb ladders or crawl into awkward spaces.
  • Must be able to 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds consistently.
  • Visual acuity necessary to perform job task safely and effectively.
