Job Description

We are looking for a Sr. Research Scientist to lead assay integration projects and mentor staff. This individual should have a thorough understanding of molecular biology and molecular (i.e., RNA and DNA) diagnostic assay development with relevant wet lab experience and a strong working knowledge of laboratory techniques.Work with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists to develop in vitro diagnostic products. Lead projects and teams on completing assay-related milestones. Train and mentor staff. Design and implement experiments to develop and optimize assays on the bench and within consumable devices. Analyze results utilizing relevant statistical methods. Summarize and communicate experimental data and draw conclusions independently. Develop work instructions and SOPs (as necessary). Assist in developing and maintaining documentation for Project Team(s). Identify and resolve/troubleshoot assay and device performance issues.Design, execute, and interpret results for more complex experiments in pursuit of project and business goals. Contribute significantly to the experimental designs. Generate reports or PPTs to communicate experiments and results. May participate and assist in developing strategic business objectives based on technical knowledge. With direction, contribute to funding proposals and assist in preparing and editing applications. Supervise maintenance of lab equipment and purchasing/organizing supplies. Possess advanced knowledge of lab practices and teach others in lab practices. Oversee projects within the laboratory and assume responsibility for the day-to-day operation of lab activities. Independently conceptualize and generate simple and complex experimental designs. Execute numerous complex laboratory techniques with a high degree of technical skill and proficiency. Record and analyze complex data. Draw conclusions and logical next steps based on data generated in the lab (self-generated as well as data from other staff). Contribute significantly to developing short- or long-term strategic business objectives, leveraging in-depth technical knowledge and current state of the field. Contribute significantly to the preparation of grant/funding applications. Understand the landscape of the relevant field through patents, publications, and other technical sources. Possess a high level of knowledge in field(s) relevant to advance current and potential future business/projects in the lab. Supervise, mentor, and provide leadership to more junior technical staff.
