Job DescriptionJob Description

We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Mainframe Programmer. This role is integral to our operations in the software industry and involves the development, testing, troubleshooting, and debugging of software programs. You will be responsible for designing new software-intensive systems and products and ensuring their compatibility with existing hardware.


Responsibilities:

  • Installation, customization, and maintenance of IBM z/OS system and associated major subsystems.
  • Management of software installation and customization for both IBM and non-IBM software products that run on the z/OS operating system.
  • Performance monitoring and improvement through tools such as BMC, and resolution of system problems.
  • Ensuring optimal customer satisfaction and providing follow-up support to various customer organizations.
  • Responding promptly to issues generated from the Helpdesk, Operations, and Applications staff.
  • Participation in disaster recovery procedures.
  • Creation and maintenance of system policies and user documentation.


Qualifications:

  • Over 9 years of experience in IBM z/OS 2.2 or above.
  • Proficient knowledge of IBM z/OS installation tools: SMP/E, z/OSMF, PDO, etc.
  • UNIX Systems Services experience under z/OS.
  • Experience with hardware configuration tools (HCD, IODF).
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or an additional four years of relevant experience.

 

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Knowledge of z/OS Security product CA Topsecret.
  • Familiarity with CICs and DB2 IBM products.
