Job DescriptionJob DescriptionWe are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Billing Specialist I to join our team in Costa Mesa, California. As a Billing Specialist I, you will be part of a dynamic team in the healthcare industry, working primarily on claims and customer service related tasks.

Responsibilities:

• Respond to inquiries related to claims, eligibility, and authorizations efficiently.
• Collaborate with diverse parties to ensure customer records are up-to-date.
• Guarantee accuracy in all tasks and report any issues promptly.
• Ensure all actions comply with regulatory guidelines and health plan requirements.
• Document actions taken, adhering strictly to HIPAA guidelines.
• Assist in providing customer service and work with providers/billing offices as needed.
• Maintain databases accurately and conduct audits as required.
• Process patient payments and follow up with insurance companies on outstanding or unpaid claims.
• Create and send statements to patients.
• Utilize various skills such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Database, Typing, Protocols, and others to perform duties effectively.• Proficiency in Customer Service and ability to handle customer inquiries and concerns effectively.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word is essential.
• Experience in Database management, particularly related to billing.
• Experience in Audit procedures, specifically related to billing and claims.
• Familiarity with Billing procedures and Claim Administration.
• Fast and accurate Typing skills.
• Understanding of Protocols related to the role.
• Knowledge of HIPAA-Regulated procedures and protocols.
• Experience in handling Authorizations related to billing.
• Ability to Ensure Compliance with regulatory standards.
• Experience in liaising with Insurance Companies for claim settlement.
• Strong focus on ensuring Accuracy in all tasks.
• Prior experience in Medical Billing is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of Regulatory Compliance in the healthcare sector.
• Familiarity with CPT Codes, Medical Claims, and ICD-10.
• Experience with EMR - Electronic Medical Records is a plus.
• Understanding of Health Plan requirements and procedures.
• Knowledge of HCPCS Coding.
• Ability to handle Photocopying/Scanning documents as required.
