Special Education Teacher (Full-Time) Woodland Park, CO

We are seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher to join our team in Woodland Park, CO. This position starts immediately and runs through May 22, 2025. The role involves working with a severe caseload of students in a self-contained classroom, focusing on individualized education plans and direct support.

Position Overview:

  • Start/End Dates: ASAP May 22, 2025
  • Hours: Full-Time
  • Caseload: Approximately 6 students, ranging from Kindergarten to 6th grade
  • Setting: Self-contained classroom with students who are primarily non-verbal, working on individualized speech and social skills goals. Some intense behaviors are present.
  • Support: 4 support staff in the classroom, including a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead IEP meetings and collaborate with families and other staff
  • Write and implement individualized education goals, including speech and social skills development
  • Provide direct services and support to students in both self-contained and general education settings
  • Work closely with students who have varying levels of non-verbal communication and behavioral challenges
  • Implement ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) strategies and utilize the VB-MAPP (Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program)

Qualifications:

  • Licensed Special Education Teacher in Colorado
  • Experience working with non-verbal students and implementing ABA in the classroom
  • Familiarity with the VB-MAPP assessment tool is highly preferred
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills for managing IEPs and coordinating with support staff
