Special Education Teacher (K-12)

Location:Oxon Hill, Maryland

Position Type: Full-Time

Soliant is partnering with a great school district in Oxon Hill to hire multiple SPEDs for the school year.

Job Description:

As a Special Education Teacher, you will be responsible for developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities, and delivering tailored instruction that supports their academic and emotional growth. You will collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure that each student receives the appropriate resources and support. There are multiple openings with caseloads ranging form elementary to high school, you may have the choice to customize your caseload.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with special needs.
  • Provide direct instruction and support to students with disabilities across various grade levels (K-12).
  • Adapt and modify teaching materials and strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, school counselors, and other specialists to integrate students into the general education setting as appropriate.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, and adjust instruction as needed to meet their evolving needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate progress with parents and guardians.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and participation.
  • Stay current with best practices in special education and implement new strategies to enhance student outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Special Education, Elementary Education, or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
  • Valid teaching certification in Special Education for [State].
  • Experience working with students with a range of disabilities and learning challenges.
  • Strong knowledge of IEP development and implementation.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and community members.
