Remote High School Sign Language Interpreter

Location: Remote (Charlotte, FL School District)
Position Type: Full-Time Independent Contract
Hourly Rate: $39$40/hour, paid weekly
Grade Level: 11th Grade (Age 16)
Student: 1 High School Student
Schedule: 7:10 AM 2:10 PM (with flexible breaks as needed)

Job Overview:
VocoVision is looking for a dedicated and professional Sign Language Interpreter to provide remote support for a high school student in the 11th grade. The student is fluent in American Sign Language (ASL), and the interpreter will be responsible for facilitating communication between the student and instructors during the school day, which runs from 7:10 AM to 2:10 PM. The ideal candidate will be flexible, adaptable, and comfortable working in a virtual classroom environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide ASL interpretation for the student during scheduled class times.
  • Work closely with educators and school staff to ensure smooth communication throughout the day.
  • Customize interpreting services based on the students preferences for breaks and support.
  • Attend virtual classes, meetings, and other required school activities.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information in compliance with district guidelines.
  • Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings when applicable to review and adjust support services.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is required.
  • RID or EIPA certification with a minimum score of 4.0.
  • Experience in educational settings, particularly with high school students, is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a remote schedule effectively.
  • Ability to adjust to the students needs and communication style.

Additional Information:

  • Full-time position, 37.5 hours per week (Monday through Friday).
  • Flexibility for breaks based on student needs.
  • Work remotely in a virtual setting.
