Job Description

The Phlebotomist I will be responsible for performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontamination, and updating patient information. The role includes collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures, explaining the venipuncture process clearly and courteously, and demonstrating techniques using straight and/or butterfly needles. The Phlebotomist I must fully understand all physicians' orders, match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, and ensure 100% accuracy when checking test requisitions or computer labels. Additional duties include packaging specimens for transport, storing specimens at required temperatures, and complying with OSHA and DEP regulations. The position also requires attending annual department trainings and handling telephone inquiries regarding laboratory results.
