Job Description

Join our specimen accessioning team, where you will be actively involved in pre-analytical and post-analytical processes of testing, although not directly involved in the testing itself. In this role, you will receive incoming samples, log them into a computer, and prepare them for the lab. Additionally, you will be responsible for sample storage and disposal. This is a great opportunity for those looking to start or grow a career in a laboratory setting.

Responsibilities
  • Meet couriers at the door to receive samples from all over the USA and internationally and start the tracking process.
  • Verify all samples arrived (manually or through a data system for larger shipments), inspect for any damage, remove and dispose of packaging, and move samples down the line for entry.
  • Operate out of multiple computer software systems and remember which systems apply to different samples.
  • Verify names on samples match requisitions.
  • Handle mostly urine samples, with some samples including blood, serum, plasma, and body fluid.
  • After entry into systems, create labels and label samples.
  • Occasionally aliquot samples from one into two samples, centrifuge or freeze samples to stabilize if needed.
  • Manage the workflow of maintenance of samples after 3/6/12 months in walk-in refrigerators and freezers.
Essential Skills
  • High School Diploma (preference towards a Bachelor's in Science Degree)
  • Desire to move up within the lab
  • Intermediate computer, typing, and 10-key skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
  • Must be able to perform work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Able to work in a fast-paced production environment to meet established turnaround times
Work Environment

You will work in a fast-paced, production-type environment performing a vital component of medical laboratory science. On-the-job training will be provided, allowing you to aid in providing the medical community with accurate results for clients and patients. The team handles between 5,000-11,000 samples a day. Typical shift hours are 8am-4:30pm, Tuesday through Saturday. This role offers opportunities for career growth within the lab and tuition reimbursement for qualifying degrees through a partnership with Arizona State University. As a full-time employee, you will be eligible to accrue up to 144 hours of vacation pay plus holidays. High call-in rates within the first 3 months may affect eligibility for a full-time spot.

Pay Rate: 16.50/hr
