Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Chemist specializing in Chromatography to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for method development, validation, and transfer studies, as well as providing high-level evaluations of complex chromatography separations and data sets. This role requires a deep understanding of the regulatory environment and the ability to guide clients effectively.
Responsibilities- Develop and execute method development, validation, and transfer studies independently and as part of a team.
- Provide high-level evaluation of complex chromatography separations and data sets.
- Engage in complex conversations with clients regarding study design and validation questions.
- Guide clients based on an understanding of the regulatory environment, including cGMP, CFR, and USP.
- Write comprehensive reports for development and method validation studies.
- Collaborate with group members to advance separation technology through knowledge and innovative problem-solving.
- Develop new methods to address customer requests.
- Support studies for safe operation of instruments and appropriate sample preparation.
- Apply existing lab methods and troubleshoot problems as necessary.
- Perform repair and maintenance of instruments.
- Clearly communicate technical information and project status to clients and internally through written and oral means.
- Use computer systems and software programs such as Microsoft Office, XCalibur, and Tracefinder to acquire and document results.
- Collaborate with colleagues on laboratory techniques, sample preparation, instrumentation, data analysis, documentation, and safety.
- Participate in the evaluation and recommendation of new equipment and technology.
- Ensure compliance with company/client SOPs, protocols, safety policies, methods, and government regulations.
- Experience with and knowledge of GC-FID, HPLC-UV, and other chromatography methods with alternate detectors.
- BS in Chemistry or related degree with 10 years of work experience, MS in Chemistry with 5 years of work experience, or a PhD in Chemistry or a related degree.
- Experience in chromatography method development, including reversed phase, normal phase, and HILIC.
- Experience in the selection of stationary phases.
- Experience in method validation.
- Understanding of regulations regarding different method types (limit, quantitative, identification) and uses (assay, impurity, cleaning, residual solvents).
- Understanding of compendial methods and their verification.
- Excellent organizational, multitasking, project management, and communication skills.
- Ability to integrate expertise into multi-technique solutions for complex problems.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical skills, including data interpretation and analysis.
- Ability to generate client reports and supporting documentation.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Windows, MS Office, and data acquisition software.
- Experience in a fast-paced, high-throughput lab environment.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
This position is based in a fast-paced, high-throughput lab with a total of 45 employees, including 27 technical staff within the labs. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. The role reports to the Trace Organics Lab, which consists of 8 team members, including 1 Lab Manager and 7 other individuals at various levels.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $38.00 - $57.00/hr.
