Position Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor
POSITION SUMMARY:
Tarkett is seeking applicants for the Maintenance Apprenticeship Program in Middlefield, OH. This role will require a combination of on-the-job training (OJT) and class/classroom related instruction (RI). Participants will be enrolled into a multi-year program (typically 3-4 years) required to meet the obligatory class/classroom RI and OJT hours each year. The work will involve performing maintenance on various pieces of equipment and machinery. Previous work experience and education may be considered towards the Maintenance Apprenticeship Program requirements with acceptable documentation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Satisfactorily complete the required OJT and educational/RI obligations of the Maintenance Apprenticeship Program.
- Learn to use, repair, install, read and troubleshoot in the following areas:
- Electrical
- Programmable Logic Controls
- Machine Repair
- Welding
- Hydraulics
- Pneumatics
- Maintain equipment/machinery and perform necessary PM related activities.
- Learn to read/comprehend technical information.
- Organizational and mathematical skills.
- Must follow safety rules and regulations and set an example for others.
- Must be able to communicate technical information to others.
- Punctual with a strong attendance record.
- Must maintain a job performance rating of "Satisfactory".
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (including educational requirements):
- High School diploma or equivalent - required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be physically capable of performing the work of the occupation with or without reasonable accommodations (see physical requirements).
- Ability to comply with existing safety standards.
- Proven critical thinking skills.
- Excellent people skills.
- Strong team player.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain a well-kept work area.
- Excellent listening and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a challenging environment with frequent distractions and interruptions along with multiple demands from other associates, managers and customers.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Previous maintenance OJT experience and related instruction.
- Strong attendance record and punctuality.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work in a high temperature environment with possible exposure to hazardous fumes, extreme heat, noise, dust, welding arc, electrical shock, grinding debris, compressed air, high pressure water, hydraulic oil pressure, steam, wetness, propane & natural gas, hot oil, oils & greases, ammonia gas, cold, metal shavings, hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals in liquid and solid form, paints, solvents, acids, working in confined spaces, working from heights, working on equipment in motion, working on equipment without safety blocks, heavy lifting, etc. Exposed to accidents of an incapacitating and potentially fatal nature.

- Ability to reach, bend, lift and push objects weighing 3-75 lbs. on a continuous basis for the duration of the shift.
- Ability to carry and/or transport material safely.
