Job Description

The quality control supervisor in metal fabrication manages quality control inspectors and oversees quality inspection activities within a fabrication shop environment. This role includes preventing problems by working with engineers and others to ensure designs meet standards and tolerances. The supervisor conducts inspections on samples from new production runs to validate accuracy, maintains detailed records and reports of measurements, defects, and deviations, and identifies non-conformances by documenting non-conforming products and working with teams to address issues. Additionally, the supervisor participates in root cause analysis and suggests corrective actions, helps develop and update inspection procedures and standards, collaborates with teams to resolve issues and provides guidance to operators, ensures that subcontractors meet quality standards, and manages the handling, storage, and shipping of products to ensure they are properly marked, identified, stored to prevent damage, and securely blocked for shipping.

Preferred Skills
  • +5 years of quality management experience
  • Proficiency reading blueprints
  • Working knowledge of using a tape measure, calipers, gauges, micrometers, rulers
  • Experience working within a fabrication shop environment
