Are you passionate about supporting innovative chemical research? Join our growing team as a Lab Technician
In this hands-on contract role (until March), you’ll collaborate with chemical engineers, operators, and scientists to support research, conduct experiments, and maintain the lab. While the position is initially contract-based, there’s potential for a long-term opportunity given the company’s projected growth. If you’re detail-oriented, enjoy teamwork, and thrive in a fast-paced environment, we want to hear from you
What You’ll Do:
As a Lab Technician, you’ll be an essential part of the team, contributing to the preparation, execution, and analysis of experiments. Your responsibilities will include:
- Prepare Materials & Equipment: Accurately weigh and measure large quantities of solids and liquids for experimental use. Set up and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring everything is ready for experiments.
- Conduct Lab Testing: Safely operate key laboratory instruments, including balances, pH meters, titration equipment, and ICP (Inductively Coupled Plasma) machines. You’ll also assist in performing acid/base chemistry and other testing procedures, following established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Record Data & Results: Gather and document experimental data accurately in lab notebooks or digital formats, such as Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Sample Preparation & Testing: Collect and prepare samples of incoming raw materials for testing, ensuring accuracy and consistency in testing procedures.
- Collaborate with the Team: Work closely with engineers, scientists, and lab operators, providing support for their research efforts while ensuring smooth operations in the lab environment.
- Lab Maintenance: Keep the lab organized, clean, and stocked with necessary materials and equipment, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and best practices.
The ideal candidate for this role is someone who thrives in a team-based environment, has strong attention to detail, and is eager to contribute to impactful research. Here’s what you’ll need to succeed in this role:
- Educational Requirements: High school diploma or GED required. Additional certifications or coursework in chemistry or related fields is a plus.
- Lab Experience: Previous experience in a laboratory setting, performing basic lab tasks such as pipetting, balance/pH testing, and following SOPs. Experience with chemical testing equipment is highly desirable.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and oral communication skills to clearly document data, communicate methods, and collaborate with team members.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for data entry, report generation, and presentation preparation.
- Adaptability: Ability to set priorities, manage multiple tasks, and adapt to changing needs in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 20+ pounds to counter height and over shoulder level multiple times a day. Experience working in a Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) environment is required.
- Teamwork & Attention to Detail: Strong team-oriented mindset, with the ability to follow detailed instructions carefully and ask questions when needed to ensure safe and accurate work.
- Collaborative Work Environment: Work alongside a talented team of engineers, scientists, and lab professionals in a supportive and dynamic setting.
- Growth & Learning Opportunities: Gain hands-on experience with advanced chemical research and lab equipment, and enhance your technical skills in a growing field.
- Innovative Projects: Be part of a team that is tackling real-world challenges and making an impact through research and experimentation.
- Safety & Well-Being: Work in a safe, clean, and well-maintained lab environment with a strong commitment to health and safety protocols.
