Responsibilities of the Pump Service Technician include, but are not limited to:

  • Must maintain a safety awareness attitude at all times
  • Receive, disassemble, inspect, repair, fabricate, paint, package/prep a variety of centrifugal, gear, diaphragm, positive displacement, reciprocating and other types of pumps as well as well as other related rotating equipment
  • Safely load, unload, and move equipment as needed with crane or forklift
  • Field service work – Must be available for occasional weekend work

Qualifications of the Pump Service Technician include, but are not limited to:

  • Some experience in pump and or rotating equipment repairs as well as field service work preferred, including, but not limited to:
  • Ability to read sectional and machine drawings - Read and comprehend OEM manuals (original equipment manufacturer manuals)
  • Disassembly, inspection, and evaluation of machine failure modes - Ability to write a detailed evaluation report identifying all necessary repairs and/or replacement parts needed
  • Assembly, pneumatic pressure testing of assembled equipment, painting of finished repair and final inspection
  • Field Service Work - Removal and Installation of equipment, shaft alignment, seal changes, and preventative maintenance
  • Safely use hand, power, pneumatic and hydraulic tools
  • Familiarity/some experience manual lathes, milling machines and other typical machine shop equipment
  • Experience with pneumatic and hydrostatic testing of parts and equipment
  • Experience with mechanical seals preferred including, but not limited to ability to read and understand mechanical seal drawings, mechanical seal removal, installation, and pneumatic pressure testing when necessary
  • Ability to properly use various types of precision measuring equipment
  • Experience and ability to safely use lifting devices such as cranes, forklifts, and rigging
  • Welding knowledge, skills, and experience preferred
  • Acceptable driving record according to company guidelines

Additional Information:

Physical Demand:   Able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted and 100 lbs. assisted.

Working Conditions: Open air shop and/or field work

Training/Certifications: N/A

Shift Time/Overtime: Day shift (7:00AM – 3:30PM) OT is sometimes required; Occasional weekend work

Travel: Occasionally, as needed

Education:  High School Diploma or GED
